The Bishop of Killaloe says that pastoral clusters in the Diocese may have to amalgamate and create a single parish unit.
The Diocese is facing a crisis due to a lack of clergy and ever decreasing numbers attending Catholic Church services.

Four pastoral area meetings across the county to date have heard calls for significant structural change with regard to how parishes operate.
Although 24 new lay ministers were commissioned last year, Bishop of Killaloe Fintan Monahan says that he recognises the need for radical change.
