Bishop Of Killaloe Announces Annual Diocesan Changes

The Bishop of Killaloe has announced the annual Diocesan changes.

Two well-known priests are to retire, three appointments have been made, and two parishes will now be covered by the Ennis parish.

Bishop Fintan Monahan has announced a number of changes within the diocese of Killaloe this year.

Fr Joe Hourigan is retiring as Parish Priest in Lisseycasey but will continue to lead the pastoral and sacramental work in the parish.

Fr. Albert McDonnell will take on the administration of the parish and become the Parish Priest.

Fr. Martin O’Brien is retiring as Parish Priest of Tulla, and taking extended leave on medical advice. Tulla will be covered by Ennis Parish, supported by the East Clare cluster.

From September, Quin will also be covered by the Ennis Parish and supported by the Abbey cluster.

Fr Des Hillery, was appointed Vicar General of the Diocese during the year, Fr. Ignatius McCormack has been appointed Principal of St. Flannan’s College.

And Fr Arnold Rosney, who was appointed co-ordinator of the World Meeting of Families for the diocese, will continue as curate in Shannon and joins the diocesan communications team.

Of the 70 priests in full-time ministry, 3 are engaged in full-time school chaplaincy, teaching and other pastoral work and 3 serve overseas in various ministries.
