Bertie Ahern's local branch of Fianna Fáil says it will be up to him if he rejoins the party.
Members of Dublin Central have passed a unanimous motion calling for a letter to be written to the former Taoiseach inviting him back into the fold.
However the group says its NOT a reflection on the current leadership of Fianna Fáil.
Chairman Brian Mohan says there's still a great deal of loyalty to Mr Ahern within the ranks.
