Belharbour Resident Calls On Local Authority To Visit Areas Damaged By Flooding

A Bellharbour resident is calling on the local authority to visit the area and witness first hand the damage caused by recent flooding.

Alice Shannon is still struggling to access her home and believes the area is a danger to her and her family.

She insists she can only gain access to and from her home on foot, as a section of the access route has been made unstable by the heavy rain and is too dangerous to travel by car or tractor. 

Alice says it's also causing issues surrounding the transport of her children to and from school:

Meanwhile, in South East Clare, the flow of water through Parteen Weir will remain at the same level today according to the ESB. 

The flow will hold at 470 cubic metres, or 470,000 litres per second.

Water levels on Lough Derg have dropped marginally over the past 24 hours and the situation will be reviewed tomorrow.
