The US president will visit Greece first, where he'll hold talks with the country's leaders, before travelling to Germany for key discussions with Chancellor Angela Merkel.

He'll conclude his trip in Peru at a summit with Asia-Pacific leaders.

Meanwhile speaking last night, Obama says he thinks the new US president-elect Donald Trump will seek to "send some signals of unity" after his election campaign.

In a White House news conference, the US president advised his successor "to reach out to minority groups".

He says the two of them had "a very cordial conversation" during their meeting on Thursday, but admitted he "absolutely" has concerns about Mr Trump's presidency.
