Clare had the best of the sunshine in a record-setting July.
A monthly review by Met Eireann has found that there was an average of over six hours of sunshine recorded by its Shannon Airport weather station each day last month, over a third more than would usually be the case.

There were only two dull days there across the entire month, the lowest amount of anywhere in Ireland.
The heatwave at the start of the month also mean that, unsurprisingly, last month was hotter and dryer than is usually the case.
