The Transport Minister is urging ‘caution’ regarding the provision of a possible Public Service Obligation to begin a route from Shannon Airport to Amsterdam.
Financial support is provided to airlines under the scheme to operate what are considered ‘essential’ services in isolated areas.
The move has been mooted for a number of months as a potential European hub for Shannon, and is currently being considered by the Department of Transport.
