Shannon Group Chair Confident Shannon Airport Will Get Transatlantic Routes Back

The Chair of Shannon Airport’s parent company has expressed confidence that the airport will be able to attract more transatlantic routes to replace ones lost this year.

Rose Hynes has addressed an Oireachtas Tourism Committee on behalf of Shannon Group, on a week which saw the Taoiseach admit Shannon Airport needs state backing.

Passenger numbers have taken a serious hit at Shannon this year, which is largely blamed on the grounding of the Boeing 737 Max aircraft which saw the Norwegian Air routes to North America lost.
