Shannon Group To Appear Before COVID-19 Oireachtas Committee

Representatives from Shannon group and the DAA will appear before the Special Committee On COVID-19 Response this morning.

They’ll be discussing the impact the pandemic has had on the aviation and tourism sectors in Ireland, as well as discussing potential solutions.

According to The Irish Times, Shannon Group CEO Mary Considine will tell the Committee that its revenues are expected to fall by 47 million euro this year, including an 86% fall in revenue from Shannon Heritage businesses.

She will also warn that Government travel restrictions threaten multi-national investment and will cause job losses.

Chair of the committee, Clare Independent TD Michael McNamara, hopes they can find out what supports will be necessary to save the industry.
