Shannon Chamber To Present Business Case For Regional Air Recovery To Government

A business case prepared on the aviation industry by Shannon Chamber for the Government says the sector may need targeted financial supports until 2029.

Chambers across the Mid-West and the Irish Hotels Federation are to submit the plan to Government, which calls for three forms of sustained multi annual funding for Shannon and other regional airports until traffic is restored to pre-pandemic levels.

One funding model included in the proposal would see the State provide a fixed sum to each airport per passenger, allowing Shannon and others to subsidise airport charges for airlines.
