Shannon Chamber Director Hopeful Gov Recognise Need To Fund Shannon Airport’s Recovery

The Director of Shannon Chamber has described recognition from the government that multi-annual funding may be needed to support Shannon Airport’s recovery as a step forward.

In the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform’s spending review, they acknowledge the aviation sector may see a ‘twin track’ recovery in Ireland, with Dublin recovering strongly, and regional airports – including Shannon – responding more slowly.

The review states additional future funding under the Regional Airports Programme may be required, particularly for Shannon and Cork.
