6.1 million euro in funding has been announced for Shannon Airport.
Cabinet last night signed off on the one-off payment, which will be used to complete a project upgrading baggage screening infrastructure in the airport – those works need to be completed by September to meet more stringent EU security rules.
Shannon Group has welcomed the announcement, but points out that while the works are necessary to ensure business continuity, it won’t generate any commercial return.
