‘No Legal Basis’ For Government To Extend Shannon-Heathrow Slots As Aer Lingus Bosses To Be Questioned

A Clare Government TD claims the State has ‘no legal basis’ to extend an agreement for Aer Lingus to continue providing a Heathrow route to Shannon Airport.

A guarantee on the slots was given to the Government when IAG acquired the airline seven years ago, though that expires in September.

While the routes are widely expected to be kept operational, Aer Lingus bosses are to be questioned on their future when they appear before the Oireachtas Transport Committee later this morning.
