Clare’s Fianna Fail Senator says Shannon Airport is set for ‘crumbs from the table’ without direct Government intervention on national aviation policy.

It comes as members of the Oireachtas Transport Committee are set to meet with officials from the DAA later after chaotic scenes at Dublin Airport last weekend.

The group’s told Government Ministers that staff numbers in security lanes will be boosted over the Bank Holiday weekend, though significant queues are once again expected in the capital.

It’s led to fresh calls for a greater involvement for Shannon in national aviation policy, and Mountshannon-based Fianna Fail Senator Timmy Dooley says significant legislation is required to do that.
