The average price paid to acquire a new or existing home in Clare fell by €28,000 in September.
The latest Residential Property Price Index shows there were just 45 homes purchased in this county over the month.
The bulk of these transactions took place in Ennis, where 30 properties changed hands, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office.
The average price of a new home in the town remain unchanged over the month at €345,000, but there was a significant dip in the sale price for second-hand homes, which dropped 10% to €270,000.
Just ten of the properties sold in Ennis in September went to first-time buyers, and only one of those was a new home.
No new homes were sold in Shannon that month and here there was a considerable rise in the price of second-hand homes, which soared 14.5% to €330,000.
Of the 5 homes sold in Shannon, 3 went to first-time buyers.
No new homes were sold in the Kilrush electoral area either, where ten second-hand properties were sold.
Here the average purchase price enjoyed a significant reduction, falling by over €65,000 to just over €217,000.
At the end of the month, the most common price paid for a home in Clare was just over €276,000, which is a drop of 11% since August.
