Austrian Airlines to sue over Air Rage incident

 

A librarian who walked free from Ennis District Court after an air rage incident is to be sued for tens of thousands of euro by the airline involved.

Austrian Airlines has confirmed that it will be taking legal proceedings against Harald Albrecht after its flight from Washington to Vienna was forced to divert to Shannon Airport on Saturday.

The 32 year old caused a disturbance on board, and three male passengers had to restrain him intermittently over 90 minutes – He was fined 400 euro in connection with the incident

In a statement Austrian Airlines confirmed its going to file a complaint against Mr Albrecht on endangering air travel safety.

A spokesperson added that the company is currently calculating the effects of the incident which it believes will be a rather high five digit Euro amount given the costs involved in dumping fuel and connecting flight difficulties
