Austria is phasing out special measures which have allowed thousands of migrants to travel freely from Hungary to western Europe.
Over the weekend more than 18-thousand travelled over the border, and then took trains to Germany.
Around 2000 refugees from Syria and Afghanistan wait in Roszke at the Hungarian border with Serbia where after months of traveling from their conflict ravaged homeland they're greeted by 3 feet of razor wire and a heavy police presence.
For now they're allowed to cross into Hungary where they then hope to make it to Austria or Germany; unless new rules promising to curtail the numbers are imposed.
Meanwhile, the European Commission is reportedly to provide subsidised food for migrants caught up in the current crisis.
Details of the food aid plan have yet to be released, however it's believed to be part of a half a billion euro plan for the sector that's being presented to agriculture ministers in Brussels today.
A demonstration involving farming groups from various countries will take place outside, calling for their voices to be heard on the prices being paid for produce.
President of the Irish Farmers Association Eddie Downey says the sector can play its part in easing the migrant crisis, however their concerns must be addressed too.
