Burma’s pro-democracy campaigner Aung San Suu Kyi has hailed a "victory of the people" after winning a seat in elections.
Thousands of people have taken to the streets of Rangoon, to celebrate reports that the Nobel Peace Prize winner’s party had won 44 seats in yesterday’s poll.
It’s the first set of elections that the National League for Democracy has contested in 22 years, but the ruling military still controls the country.
However, Suu Kyi says it is a ‘new era’ for Burma.
