Last month was one of the driest Augusts recorded at Shannon Airport’s weather station in the past decade.
CSO data shows 80.5 millimetres of rain were detected at the facility in the eighth month of the year – the lowest number since 2018.
It’s the second lowest amount of rainfall detected in Shannon in the past nine years.

Last month saw 15.4 millimetres of rain fall in a single day, while 17 days saw more than 0.2 millimetres of rain hit the ground there.
