Moves are afoot to help ensure that Clare is ‘Ireland’s safest county’ with the roll-out of the ‘Ask for Angela’ initiative.
The scheme, which was devised in the UK, allows anyone concerned about their personal safety while out on a date, to discreetly raise the alarm and get the help of bar staff.

The measure is to be introduced by Clare members of the Vintners Federation of Ireland, following representations made by Cllr Mary Howard.
Workshops will be rolled out in the coming months across the county and Cllr Howard believes the initiative will be simple but effective.
