The 20 year old man was arrested in Limerick yesterday by Gardaí investigating the thefts of the motor emissions devices from vehicles in Ennis, Shannon and Dromoland last month.

It's understood the catalytic convertors devices are valuable due to precious metal components.

Meanwhile two people were arrested on the motorway between Barefield and Gort yesterday on suspicion of stealing metal manhole covers from local roadsides.

Gardaí in Ennis recovered 15 manhole covers while searching a vehicle at Monreagh, Tubber.  The two males, aged 19 and 17, are still being questioned.
