Around 2,500 homes, farms and businesses in Clare are among tens of thousands of customers still without power this morning, a week on from Storm Éowyn.
150 line technicians are working throughout the county, while two helicopters are surveying high and medium voltage lines.
Drones have been assessing damage to lines in rural and inaccessible areas and six tree harvesters contracted to the ESB, who are mostly working in East Clare are removing trees that have fallen on power lines.
285 contractors from Austria, Finland, France and Britain have joined crews across the country who’ve already returned electricity to 692 thousand properties.
It’s hoped supply will be restored to all but around 1,500 customers in Clare today and Regional Manager with ESB Networks, Siobhan Wynn says crews will work through the weekend to reduce the number that are still without power.
Meanwhile, around 800 properties in Clare remain without water in the wake of the storm and work is ongoing to restore supply and remove airlocks in the system in parts of the county.
