An army bomb disposal officer has been taken to hospital after an improvised explosive device went off in Cork city overnight.
The team was called out shortly after 11pm when the device was discovered under a vehicle outside a home in the Ballyvolane area.

A team officer was attempting to make it safe when it detonated.
A man in his 30s is being questioned in connection with the incident.
