The early 20th century solid shot artillery projectile was taken from the beach near Cappa Pier after 2 o’clock this afternoon.
It’s understood a local man had acquired the artefact, believing it to be safe, but contacted Gardai when he grew concerned about the presence of a fuse.
An Army bomb disposal spokesperson has confirmed to Clare FM that the device was removed from the scene and there was no explosive content found in the bomb.
