Armed Gardaí To Patrol Clare Amid Crackdown On Burglaries

Gardaí have begun armed patrols across Clare as part of a crackdown on travelling criminals committing burglaries here.

The Regional Armed Support Unit from Galway, along with the Gardaí stationed across the division, will be carrying out checkpoints and searches in all parts.

Figures released by the CSO in recent weeks show that the number of thefts and burglaries here is on the rise, jumping by 10 and 19% respectively county-wide in the past 12 months.
