Ardnacrusha Residents Reportedly “Putting Their Lives At Risk” Amid Flooding Problem

A solution to a recurring flooding problem in a south-east Clare village is being sought amid claims residents are “putting their lives at risk”.

Fianna Fáil Councillor Rachel Hartigan is asking that measures be put in place to prevent the routine flooding of the footpath from the entrance of Lackyle Heights up to Barry’s Cross in her native Ardnacrusha.

Shannon Municipal District says the location frequently floods due to a gully becoming “overwhelmed” and it will investigate if run-off capacity can be increased.

Councillor Hartigan says locals are forced to walk along the roadway when the footpath becomes impassable.
