Application To Challenge Result Of Marriage Referendum To Be Heard Today

An application to legally challenge the result of the Marriage Referendum will be heard by the Court of Appeal today. 

It's after the High Court refused leave to Gerry Walshe, an electrician from Lisdeen Road, Kilkee, and Maurice Lyons, a gardener with an address at Callan, Co Kilkenny –  to lodge proceedings against the vote.

The action has delayed the Government's plans to have the legislation enacted by the autumn.
