Clare County Council and University of Limerick are set to make a joint application to develop a new University town on the Clare/Limerick border this week.

The local authority confirmed yesterday at a meeting of Shannon Councillors that an application will be submitted for a Strategic Development Zone, which is a fast track planning process.

It’s hoped it will enable a future 260 acre expansion of the north campus at the University into County Clare.
