Appeals to farmers over 65 to be aware of increased risk of farm accidents

The Clare Chair of the IFA’s Farm Family & Social Affairs Committee is appealing to farmers over the age of 65 to take into account the increased risk of farm accidents.

The Health and Safety Authority’s annual review of workplace injuries, illnesses and fatalities found that the agriculture sector was the only sector to see an increase in deaths in 2020.

Of 53 work-related fatal incidents, 23 of those were in the agriculture, forestry and fishing industry.
