Appeal made for blood donors in Clare

A special appeal is been made to the people of Clare to donate blood ahead of the Easter Holiday period. 

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service is concerned that it may not be able to maintain supplies due a drop of between 10 and 12 percentage in donations levels in recent months.

Due an issue with haemoglobin measurement technology, one in four attending perspective donors being unable to give blood since November of last year. 

Aileen Browne, Mid-West Area Manager with the Irish Blood Transfusion Service says they'll be holding clinics in Clare over the coming weeks.
