Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious road crash in Ennis last night.

A pedestrian in his early forties remains in a critical condition in hospital after two cars collided at Highfield Park, on the Gort Road, shortly before ten o'clock.
A number of occupants of the cars were also taken to University Hospital Limerick, where they were treated for minor injuries.
A section of the Gort Road was closed for a number of hours overnight and into this morning to facilitate a forensic examination but has since re-opened.
Superintendent Brendan McDonagh is appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward
