Over 550 complaints of anti-social behaviour have been recorded in Clare social housing so far in 2024.
This represents a 10% spike in complaints made to Clare County Council’s Estate Management Team, which is the overseer of local authority housing, in the last year.
Clare County Council have received 554 complaints of anti-social behaviour in social housing so far this year which is up by 50 from the figure of 504 seen at this stage in 2023.
There has been a striking increase in the number of social housing inspections carried out by the estate management team, with more than double carried out in the year to September than in the same period in 2023.
As of August 23rd, 1,063 inspections were carried out by the estate management team.
This represents a 115% increase from the figure of 494 over the same period last year.
The increased number in inspections has also led to the number of referrals to tenancy support services increasing, with 41 referrals made in 2024 compared to 24 this time last year.
So far, 12 abandonment notices have been issued in 2024 while keys have been collected from 32 casual vacancies.
The local authority also said it secured two repossession orders in court this year to date, and they also supported the rents team where there was a property re-possessed for significant arrears of rents.
Clare County Council also noted a number of further repossession applications will be going through the Courts in the coming months.
