The former chair of Clare Tourism says a delay in the announcement of new potential World Heritage sites isn’t a bad thing for Inis Cealtra.
Six Irish sites including The Burren and Inis Cealtra were due to become part of a new tentative list of potential World Heritage Properties in an announcement from Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O’Brien, this month.
The decision has been delayed until June due to Minister O Brien requesting an Expert Advisory Group to undertake further technical assessment of the applications on the list.
MD of Cealtra Communications, Eoin O Hagan, says the delay will give more time for works on the visitor centre at Mountshannon to be completed.
