Clare farmers have reacted angrily to the news that the government is to further delay payments for the Agri-Environment Options Scheme.
It’s believed that around 200 farmers in the county signed up last year to the scheme, but monies owed to them will now not be paid until August at least – they had been expected last December
The Agriculture Minster has given no reason for the delay which were due to cost the exchequer around 8 million euro
The ICSA General Secretary and Cratloe native Eddie Punch says farmers have been left out of pocket by the government
