Clare Anglers have been among a crowd of around 2,000 people who have taken part in a protest against a major Fish Farm development between Doolin and the Aran Islands.
The Federation of Salmon and Sea Trout Anglers are holding a protest in Galway City today to voice concerns about the proposed development by Board Iascaigh Mhara which could create up to 500 jobs and 15,000 tonnes of organic salmon each year.
The "Galway Bay against Salmon Cages Protest" is based on fears of a threat to the marine environment off the Clare and Galway Coasts, as anglers say the development could have a negative impact on wild atlantic salmon fishing in the area.
