Residents in Shannon are said to be up in arms over the failure of insurance companies to provide cover for homes in the town.

Local Councillor Gerry Flynn believes that a considerable number of residents can't get cover or shop around for better offers because flood mapping and assessment has deemed the town prone to flooding.
Permanent Flood Defences have been put in place in Shannon and have been successfully managed by the OPW for a number of years.
Councillor Flynn says there's no reason why homes in the area shouldn't receive cover and he believes it's time the Government stepped in to help solve the issue
