Ancestry Research Uncovers JFK’s Clare Heritage

The Clare roots of one of the most iconic US Presidents to have sat in the Oval Office have been uncovered.

Research carried out to celebrate the 55th anniversary of John F Kennedy’s visit to Ireland has revealed that his great-grandfather was James Hickey of Newmarket-on-Fergus.

President Kennedy had strong links to Ireland, with all four of his grandparents born to Irish immigrants, and has been most strongly associated with Wexford.
