Postmaster’s Concerns Over Planned An Post Measures

A Clare postmaster has described new proposals by An Post as a short term measure, which won’t save the network.

An Post says it needs to increase the price of stamps, if it wants to pay its workers next month.

It follows newspaper reports yesterday that claimed that consultants have suggested closing 80 post office branches, though the company insists no decisions have yet been made on the future of the network.

Postmaster Tom O’Callaghan, who operates in Limerick and lives in Clarecastle, says the situation has now reached crisis point.
