An Bord Pleanala Reject Plan To Retain Prefab At Ennis General

The HSE must apply to Clare County Council for the retention of a prefab on the grounds of Ennis General Hospital, after an application to keep it was denied by An Bord Pleanalla

The prefab in question houses the hospital’s physiotherapy department – permission for it’s construction was granted in June 2005 with a condition requiring it’s removal after three years.

The HSE has applied to retain the structure, but this application was denied on the basis that the building does not amount to strategic infrstructure.

The HSE will now have to make a planning application for the development in the first instance to Clare County Council.

An Bord Pleanála went with the view of its Inspector on the status of the building, who following an inspection of the site deemed that it does not faill within the scope of a ‘healthcare facility providing in-patient  services’ under the relevant legislation
