A representative of Clare paramedics says they're worried about the poor quality of cover here, and how it impacts on communities throughout the county.
A union representative for the workers says they'll even consider industrial action if their concerns aren't addressed.
SIPTU's Ted Kenny says Clare paramedics are very worried about a lack of ambulance staff here.
They held a meeting last night in Ennis, after weeks of stories about the service which included ambulance breakdowns, emergency calls being responded to by the Clare Fire Service, and gaps in cover in some areas, sometimes overnight.
Mr. Kenny says staff are particularly worried about a shortage of paramedics here, and that threatened industrial action is possible if their worries are not addressed.
In July, ambulances or rapid response vehicles were unavailable on dozens of occasions because staff were not in place, and Ted Kenny says staff are worried about the knock-on impact.
Paramedics now want more staff hired, while they also want their aging fleet to be looked at – one ambulance here has purportedly clocked up 477,000km since it was registered in 2008.
Clare FM has sought a response from the National Ambulance Service, and is awaiting a reply.
