Nurses say there were close to three times as many patients on trolleys at the two hospitals in Clare’s bordering counties this morning, than all ten facilities serving the East of the country combined.
The latest analysis from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show 104 admitted patients were waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick during morning rounds, 32 of those in the Emergency Department.

At Galway University Hospital, nurses recorded 74 patients on trolleys or chairs.
In contrast, there were just 63 patients waiting for beds across all ten eastern hospitals combined this morning, according to the INMO figures.
