Almost €600,000 Spent On Eye Treatments In Clare

Almost €600,000 has been spent on eye treatments in Clare so far this year.

Data from the HSE has revealed that just shy of 16,000 treatments have been carried out here since January 1st, with more than €60,000 paid out last month alone.

Figures released by the HSE Primary Care Reimbursement Service show 6,642 eye examinations have taken place in Clare so far in 2024, 702 of which were in the month of November.

When it comes to treatments, 15,467 have been completed here which is over 400 fewer than the figure for the same period in 2023.

Of the treatments completed in Clare so far this year, 13,367 were for adults, while 1,766 were for children and 320 were for teenagers.

The total amount spent on eye treatments in Clare from January to November is €585,570 which is 3% less than the figure of €603,545 across the same period of last year.

In November alone, a total of €63,236 was spent which indicates a 2% increase on the same month in 2023.
