Almost 3 million euro in funding has been allocated to Clare communities who have welcomed people from Ukraine and other countries.

It’s part of the 50 million euro Community Recognition Fund, which will see funding distributed to all local authorities, based on the number of new arrivals located there.

Only two counties; Kerry and Donegal, have received a higher allocation of funding.

The money will be used to refurbish local sports clubs and facilities, upgrade community facilities, purchase equipment and enhance school or parish facilities.

It will be drawn down this year and in 2024, and interested community and voluntary groups are encouraged to engage with Clare County Council over the coming weeks.
