Clare drivers paid almost €25 million in motor tax last year.
The Department of Transport has revealed that national motor tax receipts for 2025 came to €924 million.

Dublin accounted for the lion’s share of this with motorists there paying €221 million across the twelve-month period while Clare’s total figure was €24 million.
Ennis Fianna Fáil Councillor Antoinette Baker-Bashua believes the current system punishes those who can’t make a full payment.
