Seven clubs and organisations in Clare are to receive a portion of almost a quarter of a million euro in Sports Capital Grants.
The projects, covering a broad range of sporting activities including GAA, soccer, showjumping and athletics, which were previously deemed invalid, have been prioritised in the first round of funding announced by Minister Brendan Griffin.
The Clare and Limerick Education Board is to receive the highest portion of the fund with a grant of just under 60,000, while County Clare Agricultural Society will receive just shy of 52,000 and Shannon Town United will get over 54,000 euro.
1.5 million in total was granted for Clare last year and Clarecastle Fine Gael TD Joe Carey hopes that number will be matched, if not exceeded in 2019:
