Since the latter part of July, when a long run of no COVID cases in Clare was broken, there have been 106 diagnoses of COVID-19 here.

Six of those came in the week up until last Friday, the lowest number reported in any week during that period.

There may have been an increse since then, however, as health authorities have already confirmed eight cases here in Clare in the past week.

Of the cases diagnosed here since July, 77 of the 106 are linked with outbreaks, which are defined as two or more cases in the same location and time.

This shows that the origin of most COVID cases is known, but that the disease has been circulating in our community.

Public health officials are continuing to urge people to follow all public health guidelines in relation to the disease, with Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn last night again urging people to limit their contacts in order to limit the chance for the virus to spread.
