The number of Ukrainian refugees in state provided accommodation in Clare has fallen by over 400 in the last 12 months.
It comes as the Government is beginning to phase out the amount of accommodation used by the state to house Ukrainians.
As of the end of last week, 671 Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection or BOTPs were living in state provided accommodation in Clare.
This is 419 fewer than this time last year, when 1,090 Ukrainian refugees were residing in state accommodation the county.
According to the most recent figures, 16 hotels were in use in Clare for providing accommodation with 4,930 total BOTPs accessing accommodation in Clare.
In April, the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration announced it’s intention to withdraw State-supported commercial accommodation for people who arrived in Ireland before March 2024.
Last week saw the first state contract ended under this change with 10 hotel rooms set to be returned to the market in Waterford, with four Clare properties to follow suit by the end of October.
The Lahinch Lodge, the Burren Haven Guesthouse, The Imperial Hotel Lisdoonvarna and Wild Atlantic Lodge will see their state contract terminated on October 31st.
This will see the number of BOTPs residing in state-provided accommodation in the county fall by a further 221.
