Over the course of the same period, there were 10,923 on trolleys at Cork University Hospital, the second busiest hospital, and 9,388 at University Hospital Galway.

Nationally more than 100,000 patients have been treated in hospital without a bed so far in 2024, which the INMO has described as “simply unacceptable”.
