Ali “excited and proud” to seek out Clare roots

The people of Clare are being urged to come out and celebrate the visit of Mohammad Ali to Ennis next week.

The open air event in Abbey Street car park will begin at 12 noon next Tuesday with acts like Sharon Shannon, Mundy and the Kilfenora Ceili Band set to perform.

There will also be street entertainment with over 10 thousand people expected to descend on Clare’s County Town for the historic event.

The man responsible for bringing Mohammad Ali to Ireland says the Champ is extremely excited and proud to be travelling to the home of his ancestors in Ennis.

The boxing legend is coming to Ireland for a charity dinner organised by Alltech and will then visit Clare to look up his Irish roots next Tuesday

He will also be named the first Honorary Freeman of Ennis at a civic reception by the town council
