The days of pouring shampoo into tiny containers or being forced to surrender any liquid over a 100 ml at airport security are coming to an end.
New security equipment to scan hand luggage is set to be installed at Shannon Cork and Dublin Airport that will mean the end of packing all toiletries into 20 by 20 centimetre plastic bag.
The scanners will be able to detect liquid explosives, even if they are packed away in a case.
The relaxation of EU regulations officially comes into force at the end of April 2013, and a spokesman for DAA said they are tendering for scanners to meet the 2013 deadline.
